Zhuang, Mei

Biography

Mei Zhuang is a Professor in the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department at Ohio State University.  She received her PhD in Aeronautics and Astronautics from Caltech in 1990. She then worked as a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Aerospace Engineering at the University of Michigan. In 1993 she joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Michigan State University as an assistant professor.  Dr. Zhuang was named a Fulbright Senior Scholar in 2003. She was invited as a visiting professor teaching and conducting research in computational aeroacoustics at the Technische Universität Berlin from 2003 – 2004. In 2008 Dr. Zhuang joined the Department of Aerospace Engineering at OSU and served as the Associate Chair for the Aerospace Engineering Program from 2010 to 2015. 

Expertise

Professor Zhuang’s research experience and expertise are in applications of computational aeroacoustics (CAA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) in automotive and aerospace industries. Her current research interests include:

  • Aerodynamics and aeroacoustics of wind turbines and drones
  • Flow control for performance improvements of wind turbines and drones
  • Flow instability and transition to turbulence
